New harmonised standard list for the Radio Equipment Directive

Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU)

There is a new publications in the OJEU of standards harmonised under the Radio Equipment Directive:

12^th May 2017 2017/C 149/02 11 standards added

This brings the total number of standards harmonised under the RED to 111

(compared to over 200 standards harmonised under the R&TTE Directive).

There will be only one more list of harmonised standards published before the Radio Equipment Directive becomes mandatory on 13^th June 2017.

EU Conflict Mineral Regulation published in OJEU

EU Conflict Mineral Regulation (EU/2017/821)

The EU Conflict Mineral Regulation has been published in the Official Journal of the EU

19^th May 2017 2017/L 130/1

“laying down supply chain due diligence obligations for Union importers of tin, tantalum and tungsten, their ores, and gold originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas”

Annex I specifies the list of minerals and metals within the scope of the Regulation, and defines annual import volume thresholds of each of the minerals or metals concerned.

Note: The Regulation does not apply to Union importers of minerals or metals where their annual import volume of each of the minerals or metals concerned are below these volume thresholds.

The key obligations will apply from 1^st January 2021

New Harmonised standard list for the Radio Equipment Directive

Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU)

There is a new publications in the OJEU of standards harmonised under the Radio Equipment Directive:

8th June 2017 2017/C 180/04 29 standards added

This brings the total number of standards harmonised under the RED to 140
(compared to over 200 standards harmonised under the R&TTE Directive – the work will continue)

However, of the 29 standards added in June, 21 of them were R&TTE harmonised standards that do not include receiver performance requirements, so the following disclaimer has been added to each of them in the listing:

“This harmonised standard does not address requirements relating to receiver performance parameters and does not confer a presumption of conformity as regards those parameters.”

So receiver performance will have to be addressed by other means
